Me and My Little Commando

DOB was putting D2 down for his nap this afternoon. D2 rooted around on the bed, looking for exactly the right spot to sack out.

"Is that where you want to lay down?" DOB asked when he had settled for a moment.

"No," D2 said, "This is where I want to lie down."

And he looks so precious, napping with his little Strunk & White . . .

Shouldn't it be "My Little Commando and Me"?

Anonymous--I haven't been able to track down documentation, but I'm pretty sure the answer is "no." There's no particular rule about sequencing a pronoun and noun. If the words are the subject, people tend to move the "I" out of the initial position to sound a little less self-focused, but it's not a grammatical requirement. If the words are the object, even that doesn't come into play.

To use a biblical example, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." So I can quite properly post stories about me and my little commando.
