Well said. I might add (as a divorce attorney) that the reason that our society has lost its faith in marriage is not just that it has lost its permanence, but that it has lost that quality of being a team. I would estimate that 50% of women (and 50% of Christian women too!) do not really believe that their husbands' dreams and desires and needs are of any real importance. Marriage for them isn't about building a joint life and family. It's about how the man can be used like any other resource to fulfill the woman's dreams.

I would agree, although I would point out that it's not really helpful to simply reverse the genders in that problem.
