Things I Don't Get

***************
Video clip help files. When I want help, I want to know the single answer to a single question. Words. Give me words. I don't want to watch a video of a cursor moseying around the screen.

***************
The reverse-shotgun-wedding. I overheard a mother (very loudly) commenting that she and her husband were going to be incidentally announcing their marriage at their twins' first birthday party. Apparently they had been planning on getting married when she discovered she was pregnant, so they immediately scrapped all wedding plans (with their pastor's endorsement) and just went on living together until the babies had been around for awhile. Because somehow having a baby (or two) makes it NOT ok to get married anymore. At least not until you have proved you can do without it.

***************
Naps. OK, sometimes I do. And that's where I should go now . . .

Amen to the help video thing.

What's the thought process behind delaying the wedding because of twins? Maybe it's because one baby is stressful to a new marriage, and two babies could bury it. Better to hold off trying to be married until you have the babies situated. Unfortunately, it makes it all to easy for one parent (dads come to mind) to up and leave when life with babies gets overwhelming.

Hmm, well, but why is it more stressful on a new marriage than on a living-together arrangement? Or is it just that it's considered more OK for a live-in arrangement to fail (even if it includes children) than a marriage?

Maybe I'm a cynic, but I be it had something to do with wanting to fit into the wedding dress and finances. I'm seeing an awful lot of "Christian" young folks so concerned with the finances of a wedding (they want a big one, of course) that they are willing to compromise their moral standards in order to have "enough money to get married".

I bet that is the case in a lot of circumstances--it just seemed like not even that was a factor in this particular case, since apparently not even their family had known they had gotten married, so they didn't evidently have a big to-do.
